Top 10 super tools for SEO Ranking in 2023
SEO is an important aspect of blogging that’s not very loved by the majority of bloggers. It is quite technical and complicated and as a blogger, you want to focus on writing new content rather than on the backend of your site. But… if you want to increase your blog traffic, sooner or later you will have to delve into this topic. This is where tools for SEO ranking come into play!
What is Search Engine Optimization?
In my Search Engine Optimization Beginner’s Guide I wrote a more detailed explanation on this topic. So, if you want to have a better, more in-depth understanding of this topic in general, I advise you to read this post first. In short, search engine optimization means optimizing your blog for the search engines to rank higher in the search results and receive more organic blog traffic.
It’s about learning how the algorithms of the search engines work and think, and tweaking your site accordingly. By doing so, the search engines will be able to find, index, and rank your site better. And that means -> more visitors!
To make your life a bit easier, you can use tools for SEO ranking to point out where you need to improve exactly. In this post, I’ll tell you more about these super helpful SEO ranking checker tools, and I compiled a list for you of my 10 favorite ones!
How tools for SEO ranking can help you grow your site
SEO tools can help you to detect and correct errors that hinder your blog’s chances to rank in the search engines. Even when you think your blog has been optimized perfectly, there might still be some areas that need improvement that you would’ve never been aware of without these tools.
That is why they are so useful.
You can use some of these tools to do an SEO ranking check on your site. When you run an SEO audit on your site, it checks all the factors that might influence your chances of ranking higher in the search results, which will save you the time of finding out what should be improved yourself. How awesome is that?
These tools give you insight into your web traffic, the loading speed of your pages, and the quality of the design.

So it’s a win for everyone! Please note that I won’t link any products I don’t believe in or don’t resonate with my blog site. Thank you!
Which SEO ranking tools are good?
There are hundreds of SEO tools out there, but most of them aren’t that great. Many tools are not regularly updated and/or they display incorrect data. Low-quality tools like that, won’t help you at all. Quality tools for SEO ranking, on the other hand, give correct data, and are straightforward and easily understandable.
SEO is subject to frequent changes and that means that you need to stay up-to-date with the latest SEO strategies – and the tools for SEO ranking need to stay updated, as well! SEO can be quite complicated, but when you’re working with the right tools, you’ll at least know what to focus on and it that you’re moving in the right direction.

The best tools for SEO ranking
Below you will find the SEO tools that I recommend to every blogger. These are all tools that I use myself and know they’re easy to work with, and reliable, tools that have all helped me to get more organic blog traffic myself. For each SEO ranking tool, I will also specify if it’s are free or paid tool, as well as their prices. Let’s go!
1. SEMrush (7-day free trial, then paid)
I deliberately chose to minimize the number of paid tools in this post, but hey, there ain’t no such thing as a free lunch, right!? And if we want to get the most out of our blogs, sometimes you need to invest a little. This list wouldn’t be complete without this one paid tool, which I feel deserves to be mentioned here; the SEMrush All in one SEO ranking tool.
This tool is so incredibly easy to work with, which is of high importance to me. I really want to spend as little time as possible working on the SEO of my blog and spend most of my time writing new awesome content.
SEMrush’s most important features are:
- Domain and keyword analysis
- Organic traffic analysis
- Backlink information
- Web traffic analysis
- Keyword rankings
- Keyword analysis
- Detect and fix SEO problems
- On-Page SEO Tips
- Comprehensive SEO audit
- Marketing Insights
- Competition analysis
Price: starting at $ 99 per month
I know, this tool comes with a price! If you don’t have the budget for it now, just don’t do it! But, in any case, use the heck out of the 7-day free trial period. You can get a lot out of it when it is for your blog. Run the SEO audit, and use the keyword research tool to the max during these 7 days.
If you do have the budget, then this is the tool out of all the tools for SEO ranking you need to invest in to make your blog grow much faster. The possibilities that SEMrush offers are endless and the results are very reliable.

3. Google Analytics (Free)
Analytics is a must-have for every blogger or website owner, and I honestly don’t know any blogger who doesn’t use it. There really is no reason to not use it, because this tool is completely free ánd provides you with incredibly valuable information about your blog traffic.
Analytics provides data about e.g.:
- how many people visited your site
- where do your visitors come from
- visitor behavior
- how long visitors stayed on your site
- the pages they visit
- how often your site is visited on average during certain times of the day
- real-time visitor reports
- how your visitors ended up on your website (social media, direct, organic)
Google Analytics is super easy to use and gives you insights into your web traffic that you need to grow as a blogger!

4. Google Search Console (Free)
Another free Google tool I recommend to every blogger which can help you improve your SEO: Google Search Console. Again, this is a tool that gives priceless information about your website… for free!
Search Console provides data about e.g.:
- How often your website is suggested in the search results to their users
- How often your links are clicked on in the search results
- The keywords you’re ranking for
- The position each keyword ranks for
- How often your posts are viewed
- If there are any errors on your website
En je kunt in Search Console nieuwe of geüpdatet URL’s indienen om ervoor te zorgen dat deze sneller worden geïndexeerd door de webspiders van Google.

Tip: You can also test the mobile-friendliness of your website with Google’s Mobile Friendly test.
5. SEO Quake (Free)
SEO Quake is a Google Chrome extension that gives you an overview of all the key data of a website, such as the Google Index, Pinterest Pin Count, Yahoo Index, Bing Index, Alexa Rank, SemRush Rank, Yandex Index, and backlink information.
>> Download the SEO Quake extension here! <<
6. MozBar (Free)
The MozBar is a free Chrome extension from Moz.com. There is a paid version as well, but so far, the free MozBar has been sufficient for me. Just turn on the MozBar on an opened website, and it will show you the domain authority, page authority, and spam score of a site. A great tool to monitor your competition, as well as to keep an eye on your own domain authority. And it’s super easy to use!

7. RankMath SEO plugin (Free)
I can’t live without RankMath anymore! This SEO WordPress plugin helps you optimize your posts for SEO. You can keep track of your SEO score while writing your post and instantly see and improve the recommendations RankMath gives you for a more SEO-friendly blog post.
Other features are:
- Add meta descriptions and adjust permalinks
- Focus on keyword
- Recommendations for SEO-worthy titles
- Readability score of your content
- Easy to use and straightforward
Completely for free!!
PS. A Pro-version of RankMath is coming this fall. Let’s hope the free features will remain free of charge!
8. Bing Webmaster Tools (Free)
You can compare Bing’s Webmaster Tools with Google’s Search Console but then focused on the Bing search engine. It also gives you suggestions to improve the SEO of your site, and just like Search Console, you can submit your new and updated URLs here for faster indexing.

9. Google Pagespeed Insights (Free)
Pagespeed Insights is a tool to test how fast your website loads and it gives you suggestions on how to improve your website’s speed. Loading times of your pages are an important – but often forgotten – aspect when it comes to SEO because search engines rank the fast websites first in the search results.
Therefore, Pagespeed Insights is one of the most important tools for SEO ranking on this list. Checking the speed of your website on a regular basis is a task you must give priority to if you want to increase your organic blog traffic. This tool also shows you how fast your website is on mobile devices.

10. GTmetrix (Free)
This is another tool to test your website’s speed. Personally, I like GTmetrix more than Google Pagespeed Insights. This tool also gives suggestions to improve your loading times, but I find GTmetrix a bit easier to understand and work with. Apparently, there is also a premium plan. I’ve never used it before, but for your information, you can use the premium plan for $ 14.95 per month.
