How to change your Instagram font to make a lasting impression

Your Instagram captions are just as important as the pictures themselves. Don’t underestimate the power of a good caption. The caption can literally make or break your post.

A good caption stands out because:

  • The content;
  • The way it is worded;
  • The emoji’s you use;
  • The emotion it evokes.

And… you can make your captions even more eye-catching by adding a different font. And you can use a different font in your profile text, as well!

In this article, I’ll show you how to add a creative Instagram fonts to your posts to make your content stand out. It’s easy to do and only takes a few minutes. Let’s get started!

Why use different Instagram fonts for your posts?

Not a lot of people are aware that you can use different fonts in your captions, which is a shame because it’s a really easy way to add some personality to your posts. If you’re one of those people who doesn’t know how to do it or finds it annoying, believe me… I totally get you!

It already takes enough time and effort to keep up and grow your account as it is.

However, it can be really beneficial to use other fonts on Instagram to grow your account. The primary reason for this is that it will make your content stand out from the rest. I mean, what makes someone to stop scrolling, and really read your content?
When it’s different than the rest, of course!

Sometimes a different font can really complement a brand or message. For example, the “outline” font is perfect if you really want a quote or subject to stand out in your post.

You also have the option to use multiple fonts in a single message. This way, you can highlight certain parts of your text by choosing a bold or italic font.

The best tools to change your Instagram Font

There are multiple ways you can change the font on Instagram. You can either install a Font app on your phone or type your caption out on a Font website. I’ll explain both options to you.

Font Apps for your phone

If you’re looking to add some style to your Instagram posts, a Fonts app is a great way to do it. These apps provide you with a new keyboard that you can use to access different fonts. Some of these apps are free, but most have a subscription model where you pay per week or per year. Prices typically start at $0.99 per week. For example, popular Fonts apps include the Font app and the Good Fonts app.

I own an iOS device, but there are probably other apps you can use if you have an Android device; try searching for “Instagram Fonts” in your app store.

Ps.: You can also use these keyboards on WhatsApp or Twitter! 🙂

Websites

If you don’t want to install an app, there are also some websites where you can type out your text and then copy it to Instagram. The downside is that you have to keep going back to the website every time you want to edit your text. You can do this on Fonts Keyboard, Instafonts, Coolfont, or Mega Tags Font Generator.

This last one shows you how your text will look on Instagram or Twitter.

When you’re done styling your text in the right fonts, all you have to do is copy and paste it into Instagram.

It’s really that simple!

Here are a few examples of Instagram captions I’ve published using different fonts:
I only write captions in my native language, Dutch. So, I can’t show you one in English.

Popular font combinations for Instagram

If you’re scrolling through Instagram, you might notice that a lot of businesses and influencers use different font combinations to make their posts more eye-catching. This is a great way to add some variety to your feed.

There are a lot of great font combinations out there, but one of the most popular is a sans-serif with a serif. Sans-serif fonts are simple and easy to read, while serif fonts have a vintage or classy look. When you put these two different fonts together, you get a beautiful combination.

Tips for sprucing up your Insta feed with creative fonts

There are a few important factors to consider when choosing a creative font for your blog posts:

  • Your Instagram font should be consistent with your brand identity and the message you’re trying to communicate. For example, a more formal, elegant brand might benefit from a chic font. On the other hand, a playful or fun brand might use a font like Comic Sans.
  • Readability is key. Some fonts are just unreadable. If the text is unreadable, then using eye-catching fonts will just defeat the purpose.
  • It’s best to use no more than 2 different fonts in each caption. Otherwise, the text can become very cluttered and difficult to read.
  • Use the same fonts in all of your captions to create a recognizable brand for your followers.

The downside of using other fonts on Instagram

There is one big downside to using creative fonts on Instagram. When someone with a visual impairment uses a screen reader, your captions are not readable. Screen readers cannot convert these characters into normal text.

Think about it this way: when you use other fonts, you’re automatically excluding a group of people. The least you can do is make sure to fill out the alt descriptions for your posts clearly. That way, people who have visual impairments can still understand what’s in your post.

This is a good reason for me not to do it on She Can Blog. I share a lot of educational information about blogging and social media marketing in my captions. So I assume that will also be read by people who read from a screen reader.

If your posts are mostly visual with not a lot of ‘important’ information, then adding some creative Instagram fonts could be a great way to spice up your posts.

Final Thoughts

It’s really simple to use different fonts in your Instagram posts. All you need is a Font app on your phone or one of the websites I mentioned in this post. Just make sure you’re not excluding any followers who might have visual impairments. They also want to be able to enjoy your content!
