How to go on Pinterest without a Pinterest Account

If you’re not into social media but want to get some of the awesome benefits, don’t worry – even if you don’t create an account, you can browse through all kinds of pins without putting your info out on Pinterest’s social network.

As a Pinterest manager, I’m always telling business owners to create a Pinterest business account on the platform to grow their businesses. But that doesn’t mean you need to have a personal account, as well. Pinterest is more of a search engine than other social media platforms. And we don’t need to sign up for other search engines too.

It’s actually really easy to browse Pinterest without an account. In this blog post, I’ll explain how you do it, and I’ll also go through all the pros and cons of searching my favorite platform without a login.

An introduction to Pinterest

If you’re not familiar, Pinterest is a visual discovery engine for pinning and organizing visual content. It has a wide variety of photos (pins) and links that are shared by users, from fashion to food to healthcare info and DIY projects. This platform serves as an incredibly useful digital library for finding anything you could want or need.

Pinterest has been a great success since its launch in 2010, with over 250 million active users as of 2019. This platform is incredibly versatile and can be used for both personal and professional purposes, allowing users to pin whatever they want. Whether you’re looking for inspiration or just having fun, Pinterest allows you to explore the world around you in an exciting way.

It’s easy to think of Pinterest as just a social media platform, but it’s more like a search engine. As opposed to simply scrolling through stories and discovering content from the people you’re following on Instagram, with Pinterest you search for visual content related to topics that interest you and this helps you uncover what people are sharing about those topics.

When you visit Pinterest, you’re on a mission.

Just like Google, it’s designed to help you find what you need quickly and easily in the search results. Of course, the intent behind the two sites is quite different; whereas Google enables users to search for anything they’d like, Pinterest allows them to browse content that has been specifically chosen and curated by others.

Pros and cons of browsing Pinterest without an account

Most Pinterest users browse the Pinterest website with an account. But yet, many people are looking for ways to browse this platform without logging in. And yes, there are a few benefits of browsing this social media site without an account, such as:

  • You don’t need to remember a username and password;
  • You don’t need to provide any personal information, like your name and email address. This means you won’t have any privacy concerns;
  • You don’t need to worry about your privacy settings;

However, there are also a few downsides to consider when you don’t have your own personal profile, such as:

  • You may not be able to see all the Pinterest content on the platform;
  • You may not be able to engage with other users;
  • You can’t create boards;
  • You can’t create your own (secret) boards;
    Pinterest boards are an incredibly useful tool for managing the ideas you find on Pinterest. When you search through Pinterest frequently, you can create personal boards to save any concepts or ideas you come across for later.

    Additionally, if you don’t feel comfortable saving your pins to public boards, there’s the option for secret boards as well;
  • You can’t create pins;
  • You can’t save pins for later;
  • You may not be able to take advantage of all the features of the platform;
  • You won’t have a personalized home feed;
  • You won’t be able to use the mobile app to save ideas;
  • Limited search results.

Ultimately, whether you should browse Pinterest without an account is up to you. However, if you’d like to explore this platform and get a taste of what it has to offer without registering an account, please read on for instructions.

How to browse Pinterest without signing up

If you’d like to try Pinterest without signing up for an account, you can. This article will give you simple steps on how to explore and save pins without formally logging in. Let’s get started!

Option 1: Pinterest Ideas

The easiest way is to:

  • Select your preferred web browser. Recommended choices include Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari.
  • The next step is to navigate to pinterest.com/ideas in your address bar to access Explore. Here you’ll find pins from other users, rather than organized into boards. Dive in and discover ideas that interest you!

When using a browsing option, you won’t benefit from the personalization that comes with logging in to an account. Searches may be less efficient, however, if you are not ready to create your own account just yet, the browsing option is a feasible alternative.

Option 2: Search for pins on Google

Using Google to find Pinterest pins is an easy and effective way of finding amazing content. Just enter your desired search term into the Google search bar, followed by ‘Pinterest’ (e.g., ‘crafting ideas with kids Pinterest’). You’ll quickly come up with a variety of interesting pins that can be explored without having to create your own account.

What if I want to save Pinterest pins without an account?

A Pinterest account is necessary if you want to save any pins for later. Image downloads with a right-click are also an option, however, this only allows saving of the image – the information and URL behind the pin will not be included.

How should I organize interesting ideas without a Pinterest profile?

If you’re determined not to open an account, you can still save the images for future reference by creating a ‘Pinterest-pins’ folder in your laptop. Make sure the pictures are exactly what you need before saving them.

Organizing and saving Pinterest links can be simplified with an account. A separate note can work for a few pins, but with multiple ideas, having an account is much more efficient. Setting one up can make your life much easier in the long run.

What are some other ways that I can go on Pinterest without an account?

When it comes to enjoying the full Pinterest experience, creating an account is a must. With an account, users can personalize their feed with pins they’ve saved, follow boards around topics such as fashion and cooking, explore trends within different interests, and more.

Accessing all of these features without having an account simply wouldn’t be possible.

Just some final thoughts before we finish up

Pinterest has a lot to offer regardless of whether you’re a user or not. You can view plenty of different content without signing up for an account, but if you truly want to enjoy all the features and capabilities, such as creating personalized boards and pinning images, you’ll need to become a registered user.
