Meet the Blogger: Charlotta from Charlotta Eve

As much as I love writing blog posts for you full of blogging, search engine optimization, and Pinterest tips, it’s also important to me to build a platform that helps other bloggers/digital business owners grow as well. As a blogger, it’s important to always find new ways to be visible online and to find opportunities to be discovered by new readers.

That’s why I decided to start a recurring item on She Can Blog called Meet the Blogger! I will interview bloggers/digital business owners about their blogs/businesses and experiences. Who are these bloggers/entrepreneurs, what type of blog/business do they run, what drives them, how do they drive traffic to their websites and what else can you learn from them?

Who are you and what type of blog do you have?

My name is Charlotta and I write a beauty & lifestyle blog called Charlotta Eve. I’m a beauty therapist so in my blog I share my knowledge about skincare and makeup. I do makeup tutorials, reviews and I also love to talk about different skin issues such as hormonal acne. Even though I mostly blog about beauty – and one could argue it’s a superficial topic –  I do also write openly about my life and the difficulties I have gone through. Writing about things such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders or infertility feels important and therapeutic. Judging from the feedback I get, the readers also appreciate my honesty and they relate to these personal posts.

Why did you start blogging?

I’m pretty sure I was born with a pen in my hand. I’ve always written and it has always been the most important outlet for me to express myself. Blogging combines writing with photography and a little bit of nerding, so it’s the perfect combo for me.

What makes your blog stand out compared to other blogs in your niche?

What makes any blogger to stand out, I think, is their personality. And well, also the quality of their content. I try to be as real as I can, never editing my skin to look like something it is not or playing this part of the perfect influencer. I’m just me and I’m doing this out of passion. And I hope it makes me stand out.

Which aspects of blogging do you like the most? Which aspects do you dislike?

I love the creative side of blogging, but also find statistics and the technical side of it interesting. Though I definitely wouldn’t be where I am without my IT help and would lie if I said I always enjoy filling in my monthly excels.

If you want to blog professionally – as I do – it’s hard work. So much goes into one post, let alone a site. Sometimes I find it overwhelming and it’s a little bit too easy to compare myself to others. It’s also discouraging to see my content stolen.

Which social media platforms do you use the most to promote your blog posts?

I use mainly Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. I’m also on Twitter. I think my strategy is to try and create content that is so interesting people want to click onto that. On Instagram, I also try to just show my everyday life and personality more, because as I said it before, people follow you for you.

Which strategies do you use to get more eyes on your content?

SEO is big and on top of that, I just use all the social media platforms to advertise the posts. I’ve also collaborated with other bloggers – that’s nice because you also get to network that way.

Which SEO tactic has helped you the most to improve the SEO of your website?

I think with SEO the most important thing is to first focus on the quality of the post. Is your content original, are you really giving out valuable information and answering the question the reader is asking? After that, you can use some SEO tools such as Yoast on WordPress and focus on the details of the post.

Any advice you’d like to pass along to beginning bloggers?

Don’t try to copy someone else – find your own lane of doing things. Stick to that and believe in yourself. Oh – and don’t upload really heavy image files on the blog.

What’s in store for the rest of 2021? What can readers expect if they start following you?

I have some interesting collabs coming and I’m super excited about them. This is actually my favorite time of the year (Fall & Christmas) and I think it shows on my blog. Some glamorous makeup looks and skincare tips for winter are at least in the works.

I also have a lot going on in my personal life, with my first pregnancy and everything. My blog is also my journal so I will make sure to update my readers about my thoughts on the verge of a new beginning.
